THE CHICKEN HOUSE

Before it was Grimstad Farms this was a family farm with cows and chickens. As you can see the chicken house was in “not so good shape” when we moved here.

Ron and his crew did some “work” on it and now we have a chicken house that has prep kitchen, a pioneer school/library and houses the Mostly Montana Antique Store.

The East end of the chicken house is now the Mostly Montana Antique Store.  We have collected things for many years (mostly from Montana – what a surprise) to decorate the barn and out buildings. Suddenly we find ourselves with maybe a bit too much to decorate with. So in August 2010 we opened the Mostly Montana Antique Store with many fun and different items.  We have a few sales a year, and although we are not open every day, if you call and we are here, we are glad to open and give you a tour. Maybe you will find something you cannot live without.

You will find antiques galore inside and outside our Mostly Montana Antique store.

The Prep kitchen is the place for caterers (or whoever is doing your food) to keep the food cold (in the large vintage frig or freezer and prepare baskets and trays of food.  There is no stove for cooking, but there is a microwave for quick heating. We have lots of trays, baskets, bowls, serving utensils and many more things you might find that you need.  The 1940’s railroad cart is a great place to work and can be used to serve from for a small group.  If you see a price tag on something, it is probably for sale. We use many things for decoration, but also might be for sale.

The pioneer school/library looks a bit like the “Little House” school room.  It has a teacher’s desk, some old school desks, a reading circle with lots of kid’s chairs and rockers (some for sale), a book shelf, a black board from an elementary school near Yakima, and a 1948 World map.  We always have crayons and paper for kids to color and pretend they are in school.
